Why Did We Start HearNow.Live?

As producers of conference videos and streaming media, we attend a lot of events. We have noticed that getting live, high-definition audio and video everywhere it needs to be is often a “pain point” for events large and small, for a variety of reasons. For example, we’ve seen the pain of an expo booth with a small speaker trying to compete with the dozen or so booths nearby, and witnessed the stress of an A/V team running cables to set up for an overflow room at the last minute.
So, we figured that since attendees all have a mobile device of some kind on them, and many have earbuds, too, why not broadcast it directly to them on their own devices?
Then, the brainstorm really took off. How else could we use this service to make the conference and event experience better for both attendees and the production team?
Our parent company, Blaze Streaming Media, started in 2008 with a goal of delivering high-definition audio and video from live events in real-time over the internet. Since then, we’ve honed our skills in this arena through 15 years of continuous experience recording and streaming for dozens of conferences and hundreds of other live events.

With HearNow.Live, we focused our expertise on making it easy for producers to set up a broadcast anywhere through a web-based portal. Users just scan a QR code and click “Listen.”
But what about the potential pitfalls? Would too many listeners clog the server? Would latency be an issue? Fortunately, technology in the A/V space as well as the streaming world has improved dramatically in the past couple of years. This has made it possible to broadcast audio and video with low enough latency for attendees to listen on their own headphones directly in the room without a disruptive delay between what they were seeing and hearing. And we chose our server to be robust and built for scalability, meaning we can handle any size event.
As our tools continue to evolve, we are excited to see what new uses we will find for HearNow.Live.
